Jameson, Jaeger & Captain.

The eyes on this pug look like they are on the side of its head.

A Pug/Beagle mix and a tiny female Boston Terrier.

This is a Jack Russell Terrier

Two Doxies and a male Boston Terrier.

This is one of the four week old Mini Schnauzers.

Of course, not all 57 puppies are at one home. Most are at homes of volunteers who care for them until they are adopted.

Ahhhh....my back went out! Changing the bedding and trying to get the fitted sheet on the bed I pulled the wrong way and there you go! Isn't that bad during the day but at night am having a hard time finding a comfortable way to sleep. Yesterday Juan went and got his flu shot and today I went and got mine. Tomorrow a guy is coming to clean the kitchen, laundry and family room carpets. They are soooo bad what with the two dogs and all. After the new year I will have a new floor put in the kitchen/laundry room. Still debating on what to get. One day I think I want hard wood floors and the next I want tile.

Yesterday, I helped Carrie with 57 puppies. Yes, you read it right....57 puppies!!! There were about 8 of us who helped wash, dry, cut nails, give medicine and weigh them all. Again, these were all from puppy mills in Ohio. Brought one of the Bassett hounds over for Juan to see and took the above pictures. There are all kinds of puppies and all will be up for adoption. Just go to PetFinder.com and put in zip code 48187. The name of Carrie's rescue is Homeward Bound. They should be all up in a few days.

Look at that face....sooooo cute! as they all are. Will try to get more pictures of the dogs later.

Thanksgiving day has come and gone and there was way too much fatty foods but soooo good! Monday. Diet! Well, at least that's the plan. Will have to see if I stick to it. Craig E. came by to visit yesterday. He drove in from North Carolina for the holiday and will be going back on Monday. He and Alex caught up on each others lives. Was nice to see him.

Alex has been helping around the house with cleaning and putting up Christmas decorations. She opted to go back to bed for a bit this morning...cold outside and being in bed is so comfy. :)

The layout above is the wedding of Uncle Stanley and Aunt Lois. Was scanning some photos for Martha and decided to do this layout. I remember I really liked the bridesmaid dress we picked out. Was velvet on the top and, I thought, very pretty. Grandma had fallen the day before and broke her left arm. She didn't tell anyone as she didn't want to put any kind of a damper on the wedding. She probably felt like me with John....yeah, he's finally out of the house...let's not spoil anything. :)

Today Juan is putting the lights on the outside of the house. Even though it is cloudy and a chance of drizzle, the temperature is 51 degrees right now and not that bad outside. Was on the news this morning that a house blew up over near Beck Road and Cherry Hill. Big homes out that way. They don't know what caused the explosion yet. I'm ironing John's shirts and taking breaks and making Christmas cards. Tomorrow I will be cooking! That is making foods ready for Thanksgiving. Will just be the four of us. Haven't had Alex home for Thanksgiving in a long time.

Today would have been my mother's 94th birthday. Her good friend Rose, who she knew since the 1930's, called me to chat. She is 92 and in pretty good health. Raked more leaves today...mostly from our neighbors trees. Also did John's laundry! He came over yesterday with two giant bags plus all of his bedding....ahhh. Started it yesterday and finished it all today. Now just have to iron his shirts. Why? you ask. Well, doing his laundry is small compared to having him live with us...:)...and besides, I like to iron. Did a couple more scrapbook pages. The one pictured is of Lenny, MaryBeth, Katie & Lizzie. In two of pictures they are dressed for, looks like, a 1940's party. The small picture is of Lizzie & Katie a few years ago and the the top right picture...looks like they are hunting...something is in front of them on the ground....???....just don't see any guns.

Had called Uncle Stanley on his birthday but just got voice mail....so don't know if he got the message....was just wishing him a Happy Birthday. Aunt Ann's is next Saturday...she'll be 88...yikes!

Today it's off to the store to buy items for "The Feast". Have most of the stuff just have to get "The Beast" and a few other things. John called last night to reminded me how many times I used the word "leaves" in yesterday's post. He is going to some wedding today in Livonia and tomorrow to the Lion's game. Alex went last night to "Silver Bells in the City" that took place in downtown Lansing. It only takes place from 5 to 9 and there is a parade, lighting of the tree and fireworks. Also, all kinds of events go on - horse drawn wagon rides, clowns, choirs, arts & crafts...just lots of stuff to do.

Did another scrapbook page. This one is Alex and people she worked with at her last place of employment in Virginia. Will let her do the journaling as I don't know who any of the people are.

Well, my outing with Aunt Bea yesterday was great fun. Went to the Mexican market, Mexican restaurant for lunch, MGM Casino & then on to the play at the Gem Theater. "A Forbidden Broadway Christmas" was really funny. It does spoofs on famous plays and performers with only four cast members and one piano player. Aunt Bea ended up staying the night at our house as by the time we got home it was dark. After she left this morning Juan and I raked some more leaves from the front yard. Our trees have finally shed their leaves but our neighbors trees still have lots of leaves. Leaves have been late in falling because of the warm weather. Think we will still be raking up the leaves into December. Of course, I had to do a scrapbook page. To see a larger image of the photo just click on it. So...Happy Birthday Aunt Bea and today is my Uncle Stanley's birthday. Happy Birthday to Uncle Stanley...will give him a call later.

The journaling on the scrapbook page reads: For Aunt Bea’s 80th birthday I took her to the
Gem Theater in Detroit to see “A Forbidden Broadway Christmas”. First we went to Honey Bee Market to pick up some tortillas for John, then to Mexican Village for lunch. We still had time to kill so went to the MGM Casino to try our luck. I ended up losing my $20.00 but, Aunt Bea played $60.00 and only lost $1.20. Then off to see the play. It does spoofs of Broadway’s greatest shows & performers. It was sooo funny! I especially liked the spoof on the “Sound of Music”, laughed so hard. By the time we got back home it was rush hour & dark so Aunt Bea
spent the night and left the next morning I have to say it was a very good day and we both had lots of fun."

Well, tomorrow I'm taking Aunt Bea out for lunch and to the theater for her birthday which was October 31st. Wanted to take her to see Geritol Follies but they were all sold out so instead we are seeing Forbidden Christmas at the Gem Theater downtown. It's a matinee showing but first will probably take her to Mexican Village for lunch. Will let you know how it all turns out. :)

Well, last night I helped my neighbor Carrie with 15 puppies she received from a pupply mill in Ohio. Yorkies, Maltese, Mini Pinchers & Pugagles. She has a rescue, Homeward Bound, that will place the puppies into good homes. They are all so cute but one of the MinPins has a broken leg. Poor thing. Will go to the Vets today. I named him Forrest (as in Gump) and the little female I named Jennie. Juan loves little Yorkies but with our GiGi, who is bad news with other dogs, no chance in our having one. Pictured are some of the Yorkies....so sweet and so tiny.

Well, another kind of boring day. Didn't do too much although I did do another scrapbook page. This one is from this past Halloween. Alex & John went out last night to the new MGM casino. Said it is really nice...looks like a casino in Las Vegas...and they both won some money. Not much but at least they didn't lose. Juan and I have yet to go see it but it's on our list. If you're looking at the scrapbook page and wondering just what the "hmmm" means, it's in reference to what the monster says most of the time.....hmmmmmmm. And, if you click on the photo and look behind the monster's shoulder, there is someone "watching you".

Alex came to town this morning and is staying until Monday. She has Monday off because of Veterans Day. She and John went out for lunch in Plymouth and then we all went out for dinner at Canton China for what else...Chinese food. They give you so much food there is enough for two more meals. This afternoon Juan raked up leaves in the backyard and I put them all in a big box. Just used a snow shovel and shoveled them all up into the box...easy. Tonight John & Alex went out....to who knows where. I'm watching "Ninja Warrior" on television..crazy show.

Ok...not that much going on today. Did a scrapbook layout of pictures that were Alexandra's from a Reniannace Festival that she went to in Maryland last year. Have to straighten up this house...gets so messy so quick! John came by last night and dropped off some bread and cookies that he received from the place where he just bought his car. The bread if from Great Harvest Bread Company in Northville. Honey Whole Wheat and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies. Of course, the cookies are all gone. :) Later Juan wants to go to Four Friends for fish dinner.

Thursday, November 8, 2007

Well, this is a first for me.....blogging. Guess this is somewhat like a diary, only there is no tiny key to lock the book up so no one else can see. With blogging, the world see everything you write. So...here we go.

Tuesday, Alexandra had her eyes done...lasik surgery...no more glasses. Didn't realize that she had such poor eyesight...10/800...geeh! Anyway, everything went well and she is back to work today. I did go up to her place and stayed the night as she needed someone to drive for her.

John came over yesterday for dinner and I told him all about Alex. He wanted to know if there was any pain.....no, no pain. Just that she has to put lots of drops in her eyes for a while. That was it....he groaned and for now, don't think he wants to get his eyes done. :)
