Leaving soon for MEXICO!!!

Will be in Mexico soon....can't wait. This will probably be my last blog until I return so.....you can just look at my two hunny bunnies, Alejandro and Fernando, and listen to mi Alejandro sing until I return. Who knows....just might bump into one of them while we're there...you never know. Ü And what is Alejandro singing about???....haven't a clue. Something about going with my love or ??? Maybe I'll learn a bit more Spanish while I'm down there.....hope so. So.....adios, until we return.

Thursday night

Played the movie "The Wizard of Oz" for Alexis today. She couldn't keep her eyes off of it as she had never seen it before. We didn't quite finish watching the whole movie as Brandy came to pick her up but she told me the make sure I rewind it to the part where the bad witch gets killed so she can see what happens. Her sister, Sierra, has a pair of ruby red slippers that are too small for her and Alexis wears at time...although they are too big for her. Now she understands where the ruby red slippers come from. And... "come out, come out, where ever you are". I sing this at times when she is hiding from me in GiGi cage. So think that we will be watching this movie quite a few more times. Hard to believe the movie was first shown in 1939...almost 70 years ago. Geeh!

I know....it's not Christmas.....yet!

A new Christmas tree came this morning. Can't tell from the picture above but there are colored lights on the tree along with clear. If you click on the tree you can probably see them. Came in two big boxes and both are heavy. Have them in the living room right now...no sense in taking them downstairs since it will be going up soon enough. Went out yesterday and bought some Imodian for our trip....just in case. Ü It's getting closer...only ten more days before we leave. Funny, how you wait for something that seems like forever and then, poof, it's over. Well...have to get going here. Not even dressed yet.

Saturday

Finish the above layout of John's 30th birthday. He was just over to cut the grass as Juan's back went out....ahhhh....and, we are leaving in two weeks for Mexico. Hopefully it will be mended by then. Have to go and get a phone card for when we go as it will cost too much on my cell phone. Other than that...think I have everything we need. Will find that out once I start packing but not doing that until a couple days before we leave. Only thing I am concerned about right now is all those hurricanes. Just hope they won't be near Texas or Mexico.

Friday....End of the Week

Have decided that we "might" put up the Christmas tree this year. That is only if I can find an artificial tree with multi-colored lights already on it. Know they are out there...just have to find one. I have belonged to the Hallmark ornament club since...well, the beginning. One of the series I like doesn't even have anything to do with Christmas...The Wizard of Oz series. Above is a picture of one of this years ornaments from that series. It is a "Magic Ornament" meaning that it talks. This years ornament is "Who Rang That Bell?". You push a button and it goes through the whole speech with doors opening and closing. I showed it to Alexis yesterday and the look on her face was priceless. We haven't been putting up the tree in the last few years because of all the time it takes....about two weeks. Ahhhhh...but seeing the reaction on her face....well...just makes me want to see it again at Christmas time. We haven't had any little kids in the family to show all the wonder of Christmas coming. This time we do...so it should be fun. Have to admit....our tree is really spectacular.

First day of school here in town, though only a half day. Sierra, pictured above, has to take a bus there and back. She catches the bus right at the corner from where they live which is only about sixty feet away. She took the bus this morning and John biked over to the school to make sure she gets to the right classroom. After seeing the photo of her I told John that I don't think flip-flops will be appropriate for school. He thought that since it is only a half day it would be alright.
Will see her later today and then won't be seeing her that often anymore since she will be in school. That means we will only be watching Alexis unless there is a no school day.

Labor Day

Yesterday I went a surprize birthday brunch for my friend Kate Lynch. It was at her daughter Katie's home and was given by her three daughters and her husband. Katie did a wonderful with all the food and drinks. Had my first Mimosa drink....very good! There were chocolate covered strawberries, cheese and crackers, vegies and dip, nuts, quiche, chicken salad, croissants, muffins, and cake. Afterwards, came home and got ready for John, Brandy and Sierra to come by for BBQ short ribs. Juan cooks the best ribs...hands down. We also had corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, watermellon and a cobbler. Good stuff. Included the photos from her party with John's birthday photos near the bottom of this page. Still have to work on a scrapbook page from photos of John's birthday.
Today, Alex went back to her place and the next time we see her is when we leave for Mexico. She will be taking care of our GiGi back at her place and driving us to the airport.
One of our neighbors called and said he had a patio table and six chairs that his son no longer wanted and would we want them. John took two chairs, we took two chairs and Brandy's sister is taking the table and two chairs. So....free is good!
